Now: Hi, my name is Hannah-Mai Jones and I am currently studying Nursing and midwifery studies. I enjoy this course very much as this is the vocational area I would like to work in in the future. In my spare time when I am not in college or work, I like to spend time with my friends and family. Staying active is especially important to me, I play rugby, and this is my way of relieving any stress or worries that I have. Once I step onto the pitch, they all seem to disappear. Monday 4th of April: I have prepared myself by packing all the clothes that I will need and making sure I have my Uniform for work placement. I have made sure that I have packed the documents that the workplace will need. I have made sure that I have my passport, European health insurance card, Digital covid certificate, Digital locator form and a negative antigen test before flying. Friday 8th of April: We are lucky with our accommodation; it is called Calle Constancia 6. It is in the centre...
Before coming to Malaga, I focused on learning Spanish. I researched a bit about the culture (I wish I had known more), and I planned what places I wanted to visit. I did not prepare for how much I would miss my family and how hard it can be to live with other people. I did not let those things put me down, though. I reminded myself of my goals and went forward. Sometimes I felt overwhelmed by the language barrier, especially at work. But I kept going and found my way through the obstacles. Other times I was not in the mood to socialize or go out. I just wanted some space. So I gave myself some time. Overall, I had a great time; I went to places I had never been, tried all kinds of local food, and met some lovely people. Mission accomplished. I am taking home a fantastic experience, and I couldn`t feel better.
Blog 1: So I have settled in quite well! I’m very happy with my accommodation and the girls I’m sharing with. In the apartment there is a bathroom with a shower, a kitchenette with the necessities, two single beds and a sofa bed. We are only a five minute walk to the city centre, we only have to walk across the bridge and we are in the centre which is so handy! Our transport for work is a bus and the bus stop is only around the corner which is so convenient! The bus journey is about 40 minutes. Blog 2: So to be quite honest I’m really not happy with the nursing home. I don’t like how the treat the residents, it very different to Ireland. The reef the residents around like they’re teddy bears, they show no empathy towards them which is so disappointing. I haven’t been able to showcase the skills I have learned in college. I show the residents as much empathy as I possibly can. The staff aren’t that pleasant either. I always have a smile on my face and hold the residents hand...
