What I have learned ~ Seán Brady

From my time in Malaga, I learned a lot which I will take with me into life. I think the main skill I improved was my ability to be independent. Everything I did in Malaga definitely helped me improve my independence and my ability to make a choice of what I wanted to do. Traveling around the city and going to work via transport or walking also helped as I had to make my own way to work learning the route from my apartment. From this mobility I only have positive things to say as it has been one of the greatest experiences of my life. I’ve met so many new friends which I really enjoy spending my time with. I also loved what Malaga had to offer and I enjoyed doing as much as I could

  Blog 1: So I have settled in quite well! I’m very happy with my accommodation and the girls I’m sharing with. In the apartment there is a bathroom with a shower, a kitchenette with the necessities, two single beds and a sofa bed. We are only a five minute walk to the city centre, we only have to walk across the bridge and we are in the centre which is so handy! Our transport for work is a bus and the bus stop is only around the corner which is so convenient! The bus journey is about 40 minutes. Blog 2: So to be quite honest I’m really not happy with the nursing home. I don’t like how the treat the residents, it very different to Ireland. The reef the residents around like they’re teddy bears, they show no empathy towards them which is so disappointing. I haven’t been able to showcase the skills I have learned in college. Hannah-Mai Jones

Now:   Hi, my name is Hannah-Mai Jones and I am currently studying Nursing and midwifery studies. I enjoy this course very much as this is the vocational area I would like to work in in the future. In my spare time when I am not in college or work, I like to spend time with my friends and family. Staying active is especially important to me, I play rugby, and this is my way of relieving any stress or worries that I have. Once I step onto the pitch, they all seem to disappear. Monday 4th of April:   I have prepared myself by packing all the clothes that I will need and making sure I have my Uniform for work placement. I have made sure that I have packed the documents that the workplace will need. I have made sure that I have my passport, European health insurance card, Digital covid certificate, Digital locator form and a negative antigen test before flying. Workplace ~ Seán Brady

​ For my work-placement I was placed in a pharmacy 20 mins from my apartment. The pharmacy was really clean small place along the river in Malaga. The staff were very nice and accommodating and always helped out when they could. The majority of the staff only had a little bit of English so the was a bit of a language barrier but one member of staff had fluent English and made sure to explain information to me. The work I did in the pharmacy was very interesting to me as I got to see how much the pharmacies differ in Spain from Ireland. In Spain their whole system  has some differences to how pharmacies are run in Ireland with an example being prescriptions. Most people in Spain have their own medical card which their doctors put their medication info on and when the pharmacy puts the card into the computer, all of the persons needed medications show up and it also shows their previous or ongoing medications aswell.
